How to set a countdown timer
Type hours (0–99), minutes and seconds (0–59), or use the arrows to change them by one, then press Start or Enter. Press Enter again to pause or resume. The quick presets for noodles (3 minutes), eggs (6 minutes) and focus (25 minutes) set the time but don't start it until you press Start.
Completion sounds and alarm timing
Choose from three sounds: Atelier Clock, Crystal Clock and Classic Beep. Preview them first, and adjust the volume or mute. When time is up, the sound plays for 5 seconds, pauses for 3, and repeats until you press Stop alarm, or stops by itself after 60 seconds.
Accurate time, even in another tab
The timer counts toward a fixed end time, so it stays accurate if the device is busy or you switch tabs. The browser tab title shows the time left, such as 00:04:48, so you can check it from other tabs. Browsers may delay sound in background tabs or when the device sleeps, so don't rely on it as an alarm for anything critical.
Links with a preset time
Add ?minutes=10 or ?hours=1&minutes=30 to this page's address to open the timer with that time already set, which is handy as a bookmark. Hours can be 0–99, and minutes or seconds 0–59.
What the timer remembers
Your last started duration, chosen sound, volume and mute setting are saved only on your device (localStorage) and are never sent anywhere. You can clear them on the Privacy settings page.
Frequently asked questions
Why didn't I hear the alarm?
Check that sound isn't muted on this page or on the device, that the tab is still open, and that the device hasn't gone to sleep.
Can I use it as a Pomodoro timer?
Yes. Use the 25-minute focus preset, then set your break time yourself.
